My all-time favorite Reds player (tied, of course, with Barry Larkin), Eric "The Red" Davis. This painting portrays his beautiful swing from a photo taken during the historic "Wire-to-Wire" 1990 World Series championship season for the Reds. Davis is one of the greatest power/speed combination players in MLB history and is one of only 2 players in MLB history to go 20 HR/70 SB in a single season (Rickey Henderson is the other). He's an all-time Reds great and one of the most fan-friendly athletes I've ever met.
Davis signed this painting and added "3x Gold Glove, 2x All Star, 1990 World Series Champs." When I first put the painting on the table for Eric to sign it, he took a long look at the painting before looking up at me and saying "How generous of you to paint this for me. Thank you!" Of course, it wasn't for him and hangs in my studio.
The original painting is 24x36" and has a bright red frame painted around the borders/sides of the canvas.
This painting took 45 hours to complete.
