Andrew Luck "The Cannon" Print
Safe to say he's my favorite non-Bengal NFL player. I had no idea what to do with this painting when I started and just figured I'd make it up as I go. As with many of my paintings, I try to make some parts very detailed and others less detailed to 'showcase' some parts while muting others. On this one, I wanted to showcase the jersey and also create some background effects to give the painting motion. Peeling water-like drops is what I came up with. Also had a heck of a time making the face look like Luck with such little wiggle-room within the facemask. Of all my paintings, this one has perhaps the widest range of comments. Some absolutely love it, while other (who can't paint!) have criticized it for various reasons.
The original is hanging in my mancave and is yet to be signed by Luck. I took the painting to training camp this past summer but wasn't sure how close I could get to him, so I left it in my car. I ended up 2 feet away and he signed a jersey for me, but this signature still eludes me.
This painting took 60 hours to paint.
